National Museum of African American History and Culture

Explore the rich history and diverse cultures of African Americans at the National Museum of African American History and Culture! The National Museum of African American History and Culture is open daily from 10 AM to 5:30 PM. Visiting the museum is free, however, you must reserve a timed-entry pass in advance of your visit. We will be organizing a group trip to the museum, please contact Gail Spence if you are interested in attending.

National Zoo

See an amazing diversity of wildlife from all over the world, including endangered species like giant pandas and Asian elephants. Explore beautifully designed habitats and learn about animal behavior, biology, and conservation efforts. 

The National Zoo is open daily from 8 AM to 4 PM. Admission to the National Zoo is free, however, you must reserve a pass in advance of your visit.

U.S. Botanic Garden

A green oasis in the heart of Washington, D.C.! This living museum showcases over 10,000 plants from around the world, including rare and endangered species. Stroll through the historic conservatory and marvel at the stunning floral displays and architectural features. The Botanic Garden also offers a seasonal outdoor garden and special exhibits throughout the year. 

The U.S. Botanic Garden is open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission to the garden is free.

Smithsonian Institute

Immerse yourself in its 19 world-class museums and galleries, each offering a unique perspective on art, history, science, and the wonders of our planet. From iconic artifacts to interactive exhibits, the Smithsonian promises an enriching and unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. A must-visit destination for anyone seeking to be captivated by the extraordinary tapestry of human culture and curiosity.

Admission to the Smithsonian Institute Musems is free. Operating hours vary by museum.

Washington, D.C. is home to some of the most iconic monuments and memorials in the United States! Georgetown is one of the most charming and historic neighborhoods in Washington, D.C.! This vibrant district, located along the banks of the Potomac River, is known for its cobblestone streets, colorful row houses, and high-end shops and restaurants. Udvar-Hazy Center (National Air and Space Museum)

The Udvar-Hazy Center is a must-visit for those interested in aviation and space history. Located in Chantilly, Virginia, less than 10 miles from the hotel for the reunion, the center is an extension of the National Air and Space Museum and features an impressive collection of aircraft and spacecraft, including the Space Shuttle Discovery, the Enola Gay, and the SR-71 Blackbird. Visitors can view the aircraft up close, explore interactive exhibits, and even take a tour of the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar to see restoration work in progress. The center also includes an IMAX theater and observation tower with panoramic views of Dulles International Airport.

One Loudoun

One Loudoun is a dynamic and vibrant community in Ashburn, Virginia, just 4 miles from the hotel for the reunion. This mixed-use development offers a unique blend of dining, shopping, entertainment, and recreation, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Shop at the many boutiques and specialty stores, or dine at one of the many restaurants that offer everything from casual fare to upscale cuisine. Catch a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema or relax with a pint at the many craft breweries in the area. 

Leesburg Premium Outlets

Leesburg Premium Outlets is a popular shopping destination for tourists in northern Virginia and is located just 10 miles from the hotel for the reunion. With over 100 designer and brand-name stores, visitors can find great deals on fashion, accessories, home goods, and more. The outdoor shopping center offers a pleasant atmosphere for strolling, with numerous dining options and a playground for kids. Its convenient location near historic Leesburg and nearby wineries makes it an ideal stop for a day trip.

Leesburg Historic District

The Leesburg Historic District is a charming destination for tourists seeking a glimpse into America's past. Located in Leesburg, Virginia, just 10 miles from the hotel for the reunion, the town is home to over 60 buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, including historic homes, churches, and businesses. Visitors can take a walking tour of the district, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and explore unique shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Great Falls Park

Great Falls Park is open daily from 7 AM to 6 PM. Entry to the park costs $20 per vehicle.
